Each shoot day, I'm presented with a new challenge - no matter what I need to shoot. Products, Food, Jewelry, Shoes, People.........you throw it at me and I figure it out. Problem solver is my daily "who I am." Creative guy is what I'd prefer as first on my list, but isn't always top due to the over-arching need of "what does the client want?" With this challenge above, it was a little bit of both and that challenge Read More

Grateful for Work 2014
Debbie and I talk frequently these days about how grateful we are for all the work that has been coming our way. As we mentioned in a previous post, August to December 2013 were some of the busiest months we have had in years. We had a much needed break in January and then things began to pick up once again. And this week we find ourselves in our 7th week of being booked at least 4 days out of 5. While this often means Read More
Pre-Production with Penelope
We have been in full pre-production mode over the last few weeks. This is all in preparation for a large food packaging shoot starting next week. We worked with a few wonderful food stylists, Molly and Jacky. Since we are a dog-friendly studio we encouraged Molly to bring her dog Peneolpe along. Here is a picture of Nick, Molly and Penelope hard at work. Our dog Benny absolutely loved having a friend to play with this Read More
Three days of Food Packaging Photography
We have just wrapped up a great 3 day food packaging project. I put the finishing touches on the images this morning and sent them off. I also photographed the products in their frozen state for the art director to use in layouts. First thing this morning we got an email from the client saying, "This was a challenging shoot but I was pleased to see the sustained energy and willingness to keep pushing forward with Read More
Test Shooting- Editorial Food
We have recently been doing some test shooting and creating some beautiful editorial food images. We had the chance to work with a great new food stylist from Portland, Maine - Vanessa Seder and are hoping to work with her some more soon. We also worked with Sunny Ricks again - she is a regular here at the studio and we love collaborating with her. Here are a few images from the set that Deb took with her little Read More
Set Building
Last week I was busy doing some minor set building. We have been prepping to shoot some test shots with some new food stylists. We are going to be creating some beautiful new editorial food images to compliment our portfolio and our food packaging shots. We have a large quantity of props but not as many surfaces as we would like so it was time to use those artistic muscles in a slightly different way than when I look Read More
Food Packaging Shoot
We had another very successful food packaging shoot this week. We worked with a new food stylist, Karen Tully, and she did a great job. There is always a lot going on during a packaging shoot as we spend the morning playing with plates, sides, composition, etc. Once we pick a direction we continue to fine tune until we get things looking delicious and right where the client wants them. Here are a few photos that Debbie Read More
Studio Kitchen
Last week we had a new food client come to the studio for a shoot. This is a local client who is now creating baked goods mixes. We were lucky enough to work with Food Stylist Sunny Ricks again. Sunny was very busy mixing and baking and decorating in the studio kitchen. The studio smelled pretty awesome all day! And for dessert…carrot cake cupcakes, red velvet cupcakes, molten lava cake and pink lemonade squares! YUM! Read More
Nick and Sunny working on food packaging shoot
We have the great fortune of working with a National food client for the past 10 years. Last year we had the even better fortune of them coming to us with a large project, 50 new packaging images! We are about midway through that project and it has been wonderful. The work is very meticulous, requires great patience and the lighting has to be outstanding. One of the fabulous things about this project has been getting the Read More
