A few weeks ago Debbie, Sophia and I took a trip into Boston to go to the Museum of Fine Art. Our wonderful consultant Selina gave us a membership this year and we have been excited about this great excuse to have a nice day out. Our daughter Sophia has been the one pushing the most, asking every weekend if THIS could be the weekend we go in to the museum.
My favorite exhibit was the Samurai. The amount of detail that is embedded in each samurai suit is hard to fathom until you are standing in front of one and really looking very closely. Debbie’s favorite part of the museum was the Buddha room. And Sophia is a big fan of Andy Warhol so a visit to the contemporary wing allowed her to see one of his creations along with some other really fun works. We only saw a small portion of what is on exhibit at the MFA but what we saw was wonderful. We are planning many trips back to enjoy all the different corners of the museum and all the wonderful inspiration it offers.
Creative excursions can take all forms and getting out to see some great art can stimulate your brain and your senses. The trip into the city alone can be a creative excursion, lots to see and hear. As an artist myself I draw inspiration from all manner of things and Selina’s gift has encouraged me to remember to always be open and looking.
